Machu Picchu is one of the world’s best known archeological sites, but it’s also home to a photogenic herd of llamas! Nestled up high in the Peruvian Andes and hidden from the outside world for hundreds of years, Machu Picchu is now a must-see location for all who visit Peru, which often results in dozens of llama portraits shared from the location.

Llamas were domesticated and used as pack animals by Andean inhabitants for centuries, and a recent study indicates that this famous Incan city may have come to exist as a result of the massive amounts of organic llama-generated fertilizer.
